October 2019 called for an assignment for the Netherlands Tourism office about the campaign #UrbanHolland for 4 days I’ve been in The Netherlands creating contents across the country and visiting 3 cities: Rotterdam, Utrecht and Amersfoort. They have truly surprised me each of them for a particular reason. My trip started with a direct flight from Rome airport of Fiumicino to the city of Rotterdam supplied by the air partner of this project Level it takes more or less around 2 hours of flight to arrive to the Airport of Amsterdam Schiphol that is the main airport. After I've taken a direct train to the central station of Rotterdam it took only 20/25 minutes is quite fast to get there but in general is easy to move across all the country.
Rotterdam
My first impressions during the way to the hotel and the first stroll around the city has been of a very modern urban design city, with efficient public transportation and the architecture style that is really impressive. I have stayed in Rotterdam for two days before moving to another city could be be enough to se all the major interesting points but if you want to have a complete visit maybe 3 full days are better, following some pictures of my favorites spots of Rotterdam.
Utrecht
Utrecht in this trip is the city that has surprised me to most, from the charming streets and canals that have a particular silent atmosphere, that makes this city very unique and enjoyable. But never I would have Imagined that in Autumn this would have been even better. It looks really beautiful and a bike friendly city to explore, that’s how my visit of Utrecht has started with a bike tour trough the town, but also after walking by myself I had the time to look more and appreciate every detail of this city. From Rotterdam with an Intercity train the trip is around 35/40 min to arrive to Utrecht Central station.
Amersfoort
Last place that I’ve visited during this trip has been the small town of Amersfoort explored in a short Monday morning, seems that is still unknown to tourism but is a real jewel. My time there was really short but for sure I’ll come back to discover more, here following other pictures of this village.
